Scapin

Founded in 1957 by highly regarded professional cyclist Umberto Scapin, the company was formed with an ambitious brief; the creation of products of technical excellence and great quality where handling and performance come first. As with all great Italian design, style and aesthetic beauty is guaranteed – and vital.

This challenge was later taken-on by Stefano Scapin, son of Umberto, who expanded the brand internationally and built upon his father’s ideals. In 1998 the Scapin Rudolf was awarded the most prestigious and important Italian design prize, the Compasso d’Oro, firmly positioning Scapin as a world leader in bicycle design.

In 2005 Scapin was purchased by Cicli Olympia of Piove di Sacco (Veneto), and became a division of Gruppo Olympia. The Fontana family have provided the brand with over 100 years of bicycle design and manufacturing knowledge, elevating Scapin from small scale artisan manufacturer to the technically advanced, high precision, high performance technological tour de force it has become today.

Scapin are recognized as a truly prestigious brand. Over 56 years of Italian frame building (120 years if you include Olympia who own, design and manufacture Scapin products), a passion for design, devotion to quality, and a determination to create the greatest bicycles in the world have created a brand recognized for its unique details and application of technology.

Scapin’s production methods and design creativity are unsurpassed. Those who desire the finer things in life will appreciate the levels of accuracy, quality, handling and performance as well as the artistry, attention to detail and perfection of finish that only the greatest artisan manufactures can achieve.

A Scapin bicycle is as breathtaking to behold as it is to ride, each time out a special occasion. Racing and competition have always played a major role in the design, development and geometry of Scapin’s frames. A Scapin is a racing chassis ridden by legends such as Gilberto Simoni (Team Ballan), Fabio Baldato (Team Ballan) and Antonella Bellutti (Olympic Champion).

As well as offering the full range of frame materials and manufacturing techniques, which requires a wide range of skills and knowledge, Scapin also offers mountain bikes in hardtail & full suspension designs with, 26-inch, 27.5-inch (650b) and 29-inch wheels. No other brand today excels in such a wide range of materials and models.

In a time when bicycle design is fast becoming generic, with design and manufacture being out-sourced to a handful of mass-production suppliers. The individuality, design philosophy, beliefs and skills many brands once held are being diluted and lost forever. Scapin continues to do things its own way with an unrivalled passion to create bicycles with a timeless quality, performance pedigree and most importantly soul, regardless of cost or production constraints.
