At Poshbikes we have a very close working relationship with all of our suppliers, which is one of the ways we are able stay one step ahead when it comes to ultra light, or specialist products...
We are employed to design, test, and help develop some of the latest ground braking bicycle components, sometimes years before they become available.

Other parts are so 'leading edge' that the market just isn't ready for them yet, or production methods are so hands-on that they can only be produced in extremely low volume.

Then there are the components which are totally Bespoke, and are manufactured in the same way as a tailored suit, designed to meet the customers individual requirements exactly...

Project 4.9 /4.8 / 4.2 & 7.0

Storck show bikes



Project 4.9 was built in collaboration with Storck Bicycles. Designed and assembled for the 2002 Eurobike show, using a whole host of our 'Specialist Parts', and weighing in under 5kg.

In 2003 we again collaborated with Storck Bicycles to design and build 'Project 4.8' based along the same lines as the previous year, using the new Scenario Carbon 0.9 frame in place of the Scenario Light of 2002...

These bicycles were designed to be as light as possible, without compromising strength or performance. None of the components were re-worked, machined, or altered in any way, allowing customers to order the exact same bike 'off the shelf'. Now many of these models have now been sold, and are competing successfully around the world...



'Project 4.2 (4.2kgs / 9.24lbs) was designed and assembled for the 2004 Eurobike show. An evolution of our previous show bikes, '4.2' is nearly 600grams lighter, yet even more durable, as components and materials have evolved so much in the past year... For example, the saddle and seatpost combination has been constructed from new lighter & stronger Pre-preg materials, saving almost 55grams alone. The hubs are new 2005 items saving another 45grams, and the prototype full carbon rear derailleur has saved approx. 100grams over the Record item used last year!

These bikes have not been assembled purely for weight saving. You can see that we have still maintained all 10speeds, Ergopower levers, 53 - 39tooth chainrings, front and rear specific brakes, even fully taped bars etc. Anyone can save weight by removing items, the hard part is in keeping everything! Even using a standard frame!

Our project bikes are designed to show what is possible using Poshbikes parts, although some are extremely costly, and others may not yet available... Watch this space!

As we were already assembling Project 4.2 for the Eurobike show in Germany, we decided to build an MTB show bike... Firstly to show Storck's fantastic new 2005 'Rebel Carbon' hardtail frame, and secondly to show what is possible using some very special custom parts.

As far as we are aware, Project 7.0 (7kgs / 15.4lbs) is the lightest front suspension disc brake MTB in the world, using the usual 44 - 32 - 22 triple rings, and 11 - 32 9speed rear cassette, fully indexing gears, and bullet proof Hope Mono Mini disc brakes. We even used 32 hole wheels front and rear & fully adjustable 80mm travel lockout forks.

Many of the tuning parts we produced, i.e. carbon lever blades & carbon reservoir caps etc. will become available at some point, so please check the 'Specialist Parts' section of our site for more information and updates.
