Olympia were the first Italian manufacturer to produce and race MTB’s, in fact mountain bike competition is such a large part of Olympia’s racing heritage that they sponsor Italy’s largest MTB race series. Of course the 125 year old Olympia company had been designing and manufacturing bicycles a good few decades before the advent of MTB’s, and already possessed the greatest knowledge in frame design, materials and geometry, which have always kept them one step ahead of the competition.
2020’s F1-X is Olympia’s latest race winning full suspension model has been honed, tuned and toned year on year to create the ultimate racing thoroughbred. The F1-X’ superlight one-piece Ultra High Modulus carbon chassis has become ever more compact, lightweight and stable. In fact the new frame features a shorter head-tube, 5mm shorter chain-stays (for better climbing ability) and a more vertical seat-tube, allowing for a longer top-tube and reduced fork rake from 51mm to 44mm with a 69º head-angle to ensure greater high speed stability.
The new T1000, T800 & M40J composites and layup are improved further using Olympia’s unique ‘EPS’ moulding process, whereby the frame is molded using solid external and internal tooling (the internal core removed after the monocoque structure is cured), to guarantee perfect structural integrity, maximum weight saving and improved durability. This process alone reduced frame weight by over 200 grams, yet increased stiffness and durability. The F1-X’s huge Bottom Bracket area paired with Olympia’s unique ‘Stability Control’ head-tube ensures maximum lateral stiffness, providing instant acceleration and knife-edge precision handling.
The F1-X is just pure fast. An FS 29er so compact and agile that only 26” wheeled XC racers of the past come close when it gets tight and twisty, yet you float over terrain on a cushion of control only larger wheels and a good full suspension setup can offer. Olympia’s ‘Carbon Link’ features rising rate geometry, paired with the ultimate Fox Float Factory DPS rear shock and carbon wishbone seat-stays to ensure total linier suspension control.
Full internal routing maintains the sleek and stylish aesthetic, allowing rear shock remote and height dropper remote cables to be hidden from view (and mud), alongside gear cables and brake hoses. A fully adjustable chain control device and replaceable mech. hangers, rear disc caliper mount, thru-axle inserts & seatpost clamp ensure serviceability and longevity.
